So spoil your Dad this Father’s Day with the traditional taste of Lottie Shaw’s hundred year old recipes, made with love from us ..for you to show you care.
And for those who say Father’s Day is just an American invention, let us tell you of it’s origins. It’s a lovely story. In 1909 , around the time Lottie Shaw’s began their family bakery, thousands of miles away in Washinton state, USA, Mrs Sonora Louise Smart Dodd was listening to a Mother’s Day service at her local church when it came to her that fathers should be similarly honoured. Mrs Dodd’s own mother had died in childbirth when she was just 16 and single handedly her father had raised her and her five brothers.
Word of that first Father’s Day service organised a year later spread throughout America born as it was out of love for the man who raised her. And the world followed.
Sigmund Freud is quoted as having said, “I cannot think of any need in childhood as strong as the need for a father’s protection.”
David Beckham says his proudest achievement is to be ” a strong man, a strong husband and a strong father.”
But we leave you with the words of the wonderful Dawn French who says, “It was my father who taught me to value myself. He told me I was uncommonly beautiful and the most precious thing in his life.” And you can’t say more than that.
From all at Lottie Shaw’s , Happy Father’s Day.
