The British Love Affair with Baking

Posted on October 17, 2012

With 7.2 million people tuning in to watch the final of The Great British Bake Off last night our love affair with baking is at an all-time high but it hasn’t always been this way.

INFOGRAPHIC CAPTION To celebrate National Baking Week (15-21 Oct), new research by Kenwood reveals that a quarter of all Brits (27%) plan to bake more in the next year, with the younger generation (16-34 year olds) most likely to be stirred into action in the kitchen. The baking trend is not a new one. Over the last century baking has been in and out of vogue numerous times and Kenwood has teamed up with Wendy Wilson - archivist from Britain?s oldest weekly women?s magazine The Lady? and Dr Valerie Mars - food historian - to help identify the rise and fall of baking over the last century.
